Last Chance to Order Scholastic Books for This Year
The final Book Order Catalogs of the year are now available (under the mailbox folders)!! Book orders will be due by 1:30pm on Tuesday, May 10th. If this is your first time ordering please go to www.scholastic.com/bookclubs and use the class activation code: GXBN9. You may also place the order form and a check in Sarah Takahashi's mailbox (Parent-n-Me). This will be the last order placed for this year so stock up on books for the summer! New books can be great for road trips or airplane rides. A few highlights in this set of catalogs are:
- Books about Dads for Father's Day.
- Lots of books about starting kindergarten/school. The Kissing Hand is in multiple catalogs and is a great book about separation for children of all ages!
- If your child likes music there are several books that illustrate well known songs.
- For those with older children (4+) there is a set of Magic Tree House chapter books in the See Saw Catalog. These are good books to read to your child to introduce them to chapter books. The books have some repetitive features that children like and they also introduce some historical information. I've found that Kindergarteners really enjoy them.
If you would like other recommendations I would be happy to offer some based on your child's age and interests.

Kid Talk
After our first Musical Monday with the Sonos Quartet, children were inspired by the instruments, one friend, a little boy, invited me to hear his violins, "Wanna hear my violin? This is my violin, come and listen" he showed me two sticks he was rubbing together under the play structure and he was making music with his mouth. "it's an electrical violin, it gets plugged in, it is not like their violins"
