Parent ED: Conflict Resolution
COTTAGE CO-OP PARENT-ED
Teacher Kira Solomatova
Topic: Conflict Resolution
Thursday, February 3rd
9:30 A.M. – 11 A.M.
Location: Cottage Front Lawn or Parent Room
RSVP: parent-ed@cottagecoop.org
Conflict Resolution: We can look at conflicts from two perspectives: as a burden that must be resolved quickly or as a learning opportunity that gives children the tools they need.
1. “Mine!”
A child must fully posses something before he is able to share it.
2. “Fighting…..It’s a Part of Life Too”
Yelling, grabbing, pushing, and hitting are all part of the exploration.
Q &A to follow.
No children please (babies okay). Front lawn parent eds are offered in an effort to offer you opportunities to meet your parent ed obligation while your child is in class, no cost to babysitting. If you have a younger child and need to bring them to the talk, please keep them on your body so as to not be distracting to others.

Kid Talk
Conversation between three children in the play house:
Child #1 said, “I want the windows closed!”
Child #2 said, “I want the windows open!”
One child pushed the window hard and the other child pulled the window hard.
Teacher said, “I see you want them closed and you want them open. What should we do?”
Child #3 said, “It is simple, girls! Keep one window open and the other one closed.”
