"What are we looking for?"

Parents often ask, what criteria do you use when determining who to accept into Cottage Coop? The answer is complex.

We do not rely on an entrance test nor do we ask for letters of recommendation. It is really all about Good Fits. First, and most importantly, you must feel that our unique approach and its associated responsibilities is a good fit for your family. Not everyone embraces our co-op philosophy, nor does everyone have the flexibility in their schedule to participate in our program. Thus it important that you, as a prospective family, understand our program and are aware of the obligations of being a Cottage parent.

OK - enough dancing around the topic. Who gets in? Again, this is difficult to answer. Siblings are given preference. First classes are filled with returning students and then siblings of current or recent students are placed. After that, we look at the applications and try to fill the remaining classes so as to provide a balanced, diverse set of students. We are looking for diversity in gender, race, background, family structure, personality, ability, etc.
