BIO: Teacher Angie

Angelina Guerrero was born and raised in Southern California. She first knew she wanted to become a teacher when she helped out at her little sister’s co-op nursery school when she was in Junior High school. Then, when she was a high school student through a R.O.P program, she volunteered at preschools and received school credit. At Mount Sac Community College in Pomona, she took Child Development classes while working full time.
Angelina has worked at Cottage Co-op for nine years and spends most of her free time playing with her adventurous 8 year old son, Joseph who is in first grade. Her son is her inspiration. She enjoys the dynamic environment of the classroom, because each day the children are learning something new. She says she finds it most rewarding at the end of the year when she can look at how much the children have grown. She also says she appreciates co-op schools because parents are able to personally share their child’s experiences without having to solely rely on a teacher’s narrative.
Kid Talk
Conversation between three children in the play house:
Child #1 said, “I want the windows closed!”
Child #2 said, “I want the windows open!”
One child pushed the window hard and the other child pulled the window hard.
Teacher said, “I see you want them closed and you want them open. What should we do?”
Child #3 said, “It is simple, girls! Keep one window open and the other one closed.”
