Tuition Assistance
We work hard to keep tuition down and provide alternative ways to contribute to the school through our Annual Fund and Fall Apple Sale Fundraiser. However, if the cost of tuition would be a hardship on your family, Cottage does offer limited funds through our Tuition Assistance program.
Request for Assistance
If your family would like more information about requesting tuition assistance, please contact Emily Mencken (director@cottagecoop.org). Your request will be kept confidential. As part of the application for tuition assistance, you will be asked to provide explanation of your circumstances. This is designed to give you a chance to explain request, let us know if it is a temporary circumstance or long-term situation, and articulate how you will be able to fullfill your other obligations as member of the Co-op. You will be asked to submit past federal income tax statements to support your request.
Deadlines
Please submit a copy of the family’s two most recent federal tax returns with the completed application for Tuition Assistance (see below) by March 2 (for returning families) and by April 2 (for new families).
Awarding Assistance
Assistance is awarded based on need and depends upon total amount of tuition assistance available as well as the total assistance requested by other families. All returning families will need to be members in good standing, having fullfilled all member obligations, and demonstrate that they active contribute to the Community. New families should articulate how they can contribute to the Community beyond just financially.
Expanded Assistance
Through the generosity of various individuals and organizations, we have been able to expand our ability to offer tuition assistance. Over the past three years, we have been able to more than double the funds available.
If you would like more information about contributing to the Cottage Tuition Assistance Fund or are interested in sponsoring a family, please contact Rob Banning - Cottage Board President (board-president@cottagecoop.org)

Kid Talk
Conversation between three children in the play house:
Child #1 said, “I want the windows closed!”
Child #2 said, “I want the windows open!”
One child pushed the window hard and the other child pulled the window hard.
Teacher said, “I see you want them closed and you want them open. What should we do?”
Child #3 said, “It is simple, girls! Keep one window open and the other one closed.”
